
Fifth graders attend computer class for 12-weeks. They are introduced to Microsoft Word, where they learn how to change font and sizes, bold, italicize, underline, center, spell check, save and open a document, cut, copy and paste. They learn how to add and search for graphics. In addition, fifth grades are introduced to Microsoft Excel and learn how to make simple spreadsheets and a pie graph. PowerPoint is introduced next and the students design and create a multimedia presentation about themselves, titled:"All About Me." Finally, the students will use Microsoft Publisher and the Internet to create a career flyer. Students using email daily as part of their keyboarding practice. |

 Sixth graders attend computer class for 12-weeks. They continue to use to Microsoft Word. New skills taught are inserting word-art, text boxes, grouping and ungrouping objects, using auto-shapes and utilizing all the draw tools. Sixth graders use Microsoft Excel and continue to make spreadsheets and graphs. New skills taught are changing font colors and sizes, graph's colors, and inserting a header or footer. Sixth graders then use PowerPoint to design and create a multimedia presentation explaining how to do or make something. An example would be:"How to Make a Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich". Students also do a daily keyboarding drill using email. In addition, the students are taught how software is used together. They will draw a picture in Microsoft Paint. The students will then key in a story about their picture in Microsoft Word. Finally, the picture is then inserted into the Word document. The students will create a 6th grade school brochure about their teachers and classes. Finally, the Internet is used quite frequently for several projects. |

Seventh graders attend computer class for 12-weeks. The class continues to offer the students a chance to further develop their technology skills in a project-based class. Microsoft Office, which includes Word, Excel, Publisher PowerPoint, is the software primarily used throughout the 12-week period. The students are also introduced to digital editing, graphic designing and video editing. In addition to Microsoft Office, the Internet is another tool utilized for online research to complete their projects. The students also use this class time to work on computer related projects that are assigned by other teachers. Finally, a 15-minute keyboarding drill is completed daily that is incorporated with the use of email.

The 8th grade students are responsible for the creation, direction, and production of weekly news broadcast, which is shown on closed circuit TV every Friday morning. The show is called the Raider Report. |
