SCHEDULE YOUR CAMPUS VISITS! |
All juniors and seniors are permitted two (2) campus visits this year. Appointments must be made through the Guidance Office at least two weeks in advance and visitation forms must be returned to the Guidance Office one week prior to the visit. NO CAMPUS VISITS WILL BE SCHEDULED DURING THE FIRST AND LAST TWO WEEKS OF EACH SEMESTER. For additional information see a counselor.
CAMPUS VISIT GUIDELINES (must be met in order to take a college visit):
1. The student must be passing 3 out of 4 courses they are currently enrolled in.
2. The student must meet the general admission criteria for the 4- or 2-year school.
3. The college visit must be requested through the Guidance Office two weeks in advance to schedule a visit. The student will receive a permission slip that requires a parent signature in order to attend.
4. The campus visit will be counted as a school activity as long as the Campus Visitation form is returned to the Guidance Office.
5. Only juniors and seniors are permitted to go on a campus visit. Students are allowed two (2) visits per school year.
6. No visits will be scheduled the first two weeks of the second semester. |
CHECKLIST FOR A CAMPUS VISIT |
* Meet with an Admission Counselor
* Verify admission requirements (test and high school preparation)
* Discuss your chances for success in certain programs
* Find out how to apply
* Obtain a school calendar and a catalog
* Determine college costs
* Ask about financial aid opportunities
* Meet with faculty in the department of your intended major
* Ask questions about academic requirements/offerings
* Attend a class to get an idea of typical size, teaching style, academic atmosphere
* Identify career planning services for undergraduates
* Tour campus (be sure to check out the dorms, dining hall, library, etc.)
* Talk to students about the general academic environment and the amount and kind of study necessary for success
* Find out what student activities (clubs, organizations, intramurals, etc.) are available and about campus life in terms of dating and social activities
* Investigate transportation options |
