The Benjamin Logan Local School District values each student's unique strengths and potential. Educators in our school district are committed to working together with parents to understand and support all students. Our school district supports nearly 300 students with educational disabilities requiring specially designed instruction.
For each student, the process begins with interventions designed by the IAT (Intervention Assistance Team). The IAT values collaboration, with both the student and the parent as core members of the team. The IAT reviews data to set specific goals for improvement, designs interventions and progress monitors the interventions to determine if the interventions are working, or need adjusted. In the event that a student does not respond to interventions, the IAT may refer a student for a multi-factored evaluation to determine whether or not the student may meet the definition of one or more educational disabilities and requires specially designed instruction to participate and make progress in the general education curriculum. If the student requires specially designed instruction, then an IEP (Individual Education Plan) is developed and implemented.
The Benjamin Logan Local School District partners with the Logan County Educational Service Center to provide special education and related services to our students in their least restrictive environment. The least restrictive environment is unique for each student and is determined by his/her IEP team.
We look forward to continued partnerships with parents to meet the needs of all students. Educational success will lead to life success as our students become responsible, independent, contributing members of our community.
Sincerely,
Mark Foley
Director of Special Education
